Growth International - organisational and personal development

Growth in Community provides programmes for individuals, families and schools on issues concerning Family Life.

These programmes include:

  • Parenting Skills - for all ages from toddler to teenager
  • Parenting and Sex
  • Parent Assertiveness
  • Communication Skills for Couples

Communication skills are key to all relationships and these are at the heart of the programmes that we run. They are transalatable into many different situations: family life, school, social and the workplace. Men who have been on the programmes have found they work with their children as much as with their teams at work.

Along with resources that we have developed ourselves over the last 10 years, we have used extensively the programmes that Michael and Terri Quin at The Family Caring Trust have put together. Have a look at the variety of material that they have put together on their website: www.familycaring.co.uk

Feedback from Parents Who Have Attended Our Programmes

"My husband and I are a lot calmer, we are shouting less and consequently the children are clamer too. We give the children more responsibility and listen better. They are both happier!"

"I've learned to think before I speak and give more responsibility to my children. To constantly review my parenting and to see how I can improve."

"It has made me reflect  on what I say and how I behave with my two children. Most importantly, it has made me aware of how powerful my behaviour and language is within my own family. I found the skills applicable
to a wide age range of children which was useful in my case."

"I felt if very reassuring to see and hear other people having similar problems. I have realised I had to change let go - give more responsibility and delegate more. Be less controlling. The course has biven me more confidence and focus. Thank you."

"Excellent course. Informal, safe environment to share thoughts with no judgements. Useful examples to share in small groups. I have learned a great deal which I will put into practice. I know I need to change my behaviour in order to see changes in my family. Thank you very much!"
